TRARAsia Certified Courses (Standard/Customized) is Competent Person Training (Work/Supervisor/Trainer) for On the  Use of Rope Tactics for Work and Rescue at Heights/Confined Spaces in Industrial, Outdoor and Tactical Intervention.

Height and Confined Space Rescue Operations Basics
  • Rescue at this level represents the capability of Organization/Company providing an on-site rescue team(s) to support and participate in a height and confined space emergency incident
  • Responder is rescue-trained, able to apply the general and specialized rescue to perform height and confined space rescue under supervision.
Height and Confined Space Rescue Operations Advanced
  • Rescue at this level represents the capability of Organization/Company in provision of an ERT to co-ordinate, perform and supervise in a height and confined space emergency incident.
  • Responder is rescue-trained, able to apply techniques (TRARAsia rope tactics rescue advanced)to perform height and confined space rescue.
Train-The-Trainer

The Train-The-Trainer course for height and confined space rescue operations has the following two main categories that are independently and interdependently created

  • Height Rescue
  • Confined Space Rescue

Course equips the individual for the role of Trainer in delivery training and education for on the use of rope tactics rescue at heights and confined spaces in accordance to the training requirements of TRARAsia standard of practices and management system. The course cover and revisit the basics and advanced on the height and confined space rescue operations. It includes on the training (instructions and coaching), and assessments as required for the delivery and education on rope tactics rescue.

And the effective of the train-the-trainer program is to be incorporated to go along side with the conduct of the Height and Confined Space Rescue Operations Basics program and Advanced program. The arrangements provide the platform to allow the individual to actively engage on the delivery of the training (hands-on applications on coaching and supervision), and perform the role of Assessor for assessments (both formative and summative) for the Basics program and Advanced program.

  • Pre-Requisites: Has completed the Height and Confined Space Rescue Operations (for both levels – Basics and Advanced). And physically and medically fit to carry out the practical part of the course

Competency Requirements
  • Individuals who score below the designated standard and were given additional coaching. On the 2nd attempt and/or 3rd attempt, all managed to achieve the desired level of proficiency and achieved competent.
  • The Summative Assessment – Practical I: Individual Skill Performance Evaluation, and Practical II: Team Skill Performance Evaluation. Candidate has to perform the activity and each time is been assessed (to meet the NFPA 1006 and NFPA 1670 requirements).
  • The Individual is deemed competent when a “C” is achieved for all performance criteria in the unit. A “NYC” in any performance criteria will result in a “NYC” in the competency element which will result in a “NYC” for the entire competency unit.

Requirements for Certification

The course consists of both education (classroom session up to 20% of contact hours) and training (practical session including ground practice up to 80% of contact hours).

To ensure comprehensive and effective training, all trainees are monitored throughout the course. Their physical, mental and psychological abilities to perform their required task/rescue activities are continually assessed. This is to ensure the trainee acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, the competency ready to perform their role (formative assessment).

  • Certification requires 100% for attendance record (Absence with valid reason will be considered on a case-to-case basis but minimum number of contact hours has to be attained).
  • 80% for the overall results (includes hands-on instructions, participation including ground practices –formative assessment)–all assignments to be submitted and no compulsory passing
